• Digital Blasphemy - If you're getting tired of looking at Windows' lame default wallpaper, then click over to artist Ryan Bliss' site for an awesome selection of free wallpaper art. There's all kinds of eye-popping, original images here, including surreal images, lovely outer space scenes and abstract stuff.
  


• DHD Photo Gallery - This is a nice collection of "real-world-derived" images. Categories include food & drink, math, medicine & health, natural science, flowers, textures & surfaces, office motes, pasta, people, places, cactus, toilets, greenery and much more. Thumbnail images are provided for all images for rapid searching. Free for personal and commercial use, but check the conditions.

• Andy's Art Attack - Andy Evans' 300-plus page site offers resources for free and original GIF animations, buttons and backgrounds, as well as HTML tips. A mind-blowing site, with some of the most creative art, also serves up tips for using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Also be sure to check out the "Daily Download" which serves up a different button, animation or counter digit each day.
  


• ASCII Art Gallery - Here's a graphics site with a twist: it features ASCII art only. Categories include: cartoon characters, animals, seasonal items, animations (!) and more.
  


• Eirin's Gradient Backgrounds - If you're looking for gradient backgrounds (those that fade from one color into another), this is the place to go. This site contains contains red, dark blue, purple. light green, yellow, and orange backgrounds. Each gradient color background is sampled in a .GIF format.
  


• Free Custom Cartoons from KG Company - This is primarily a commercial site, but they offer free custom cartoons of whatever you want. So, if you want a cartoon of a penguin playing chess in France on an elephant's back while the Eiffel Tower sprouts feet and walks away, you've got it.
  


• The Doodle-Kids Page - This site offers children's Web page graphics. There's a selection of animated words (signs and banners), animated people and animals and more.
  


• NVR BorderMania free filters - This site offers free plug-in filters for graphics editing programs including the popular shareware program, Paint Shop Pro All of these filters are designed to create a variety of basic borders around images and are particularly well suited to creating buttons for Web pages.
  


• POV-Ray Free Graphics Tool - POV-Ray (the Persistence of Vision Raytracer) is a high-quality, free program for creating amazing 3-D graphics. Has a steep learning curve, but is worth the time you invest in it, if you're serious about learning about ray-traced graphics. Available for Windows, DOS, Macs, Linux, SunOS and Amiga.
