Free Web Counters and Trackers
If
you have a Web page, sooner or later you're going to
want a counter for it - or at least a means of
determining how many visitors your page is getting.
Across the Web, there are many free counter and Web site
tracking services available. These range from simple
counters that give you only the number of hits you're
getting to sophisticated services that give you extensive
data about your visitors (where they're from, what page
they were referred by, what time they visited, etc.)
- CyberStats: a
stats tracking service - CyberStats
is easy to set up and offers loads of information
about your visitors. Just cut and paste their
coding onto your site and you're all set. The
information includes hits for the past 7 days, a
yearly total, detailed monthly stats, host name
stats, search engine stats and more. They also
offer a commercial version (for $16) that
eliminates the banner that you display with the
free version.
- FastCounter - Link
Exchange, the banner service, has gotten into the
counter business, as well. This service is easy
to set up and offers you stats via E-mail.
Several counter styles are available. No porn or
"inappropriate" sites allowed.
- NedStat -
Outstanding free counter with all kinds of
detailed stats, including what page referred your
visitors to you---a essential feature that's very
rare among free tracking services. NedStat is now
also offering two-week trial periods for its more
advanced and detailed NedStat Pro.
- SuperStats - Nice
stats service that allows you to see how many
people have visited your Web page, how they found
your site, what time of day they visited, and
more. In return, they display a banner on your
page that is 400 by 40 pixels. It's easy to set
up; just cut & paste 2 lines of HTML to your
page.
- IPStat - This
tracking service disappeared for a while, but
they're back now. They provide plenty of stats
including "Hits for the last 21 days,"
"Hit per Country," "Hits per
Hour," "Total Hits per Week Day,"
"Hits per Browser," and more. Free for
personal pages.
- Aaddzz free
Access Counters and Trackers - Service
that provides counters with hundreds of cool font
styles. This service's counters and trackers are
easy to set up. Aaddzz also provides free reports
about accesses and visitors to pages. You may use
Aaddzz to add up to five counters and five
trackers to your Web pages.
- Freestats - Nice
stats program that offers lots of useful data.
Besides telling you how many hits your page is
getting, it will tell you how many unique
visitors your page gets every day/month and shows
you who they were. It also tells you such useful
info as how many unique visitors you got, what
countries they came from and more.
- Free Web Page Hit
Counter - A free counter that
allows you to count the hits on all your pages,
view counts on all pages at the same time &
view counts without viewing the page and
incrementing the count. Easy to set up: just cut
& paste some HTML and make minor
modifications and you're all set. Note: you can't
use this on an X-rated site
- The Museum of
Counter Art - Tired of the same
lame-looking counter on your page? Check out this
site which has 500 sets of free counter artwork
for anyone to use. The counter sets can be used
with most any counter CGI scripts, across all
platforms. Counter art is displayed in the
various exhibit rooms of the museum based on its
particular look or style.
- Site-Stats - Here's
the deal: you give them space for a billboard;
they provide you with counter stats.
- Dyno Counter - Just cut
& paste some code and Viola! you've got a
counter. You can have as many counters as you
want as long as the content on your site is free.
- JCount - JCount is
a set of animated web page access counters that
are available as free access counters. Although
they are Java-based, they include a backup
counter for those users who do not have Java
support. You can choose from a selection of
different digit types or change the number
displayed at any time you choose by using a
simple configuration screen. Paid subscription
service available, too.
