Unsecured Visa® & MasterCard® Sources
To apply for the credit cards below, simply call or write the banks listed and request a credit card application. Let them know that you are interested specifically in their unsecured credit cards. They will send you an application and all of the details. We have not listed specific requirements of each bank here since each bank has their own rules. Your best bet would be to request applications from all of them, and then decide which one fits you best. We have found, however, that one of the most liberal banks is First Premier Bank - and you can even apply online!
WARNING: Do not apply for more than ONE credit card at a time! If you do, there will be several "recent inquiries" showing on your credit report and you are then VERY LIKELY TO BE TURNED DOWN! When your credit report shows several inquiries in a short period of time from credit card issuers, it is viewed as a possible warning sign of fraud. If you have applied for lots of credit cards recently, it is probably best to wait a few months before applying for your unsecured Visa® or MasterCard®.

If you have a problem: 95% of the people applying to the banks above will be issued a credit card with no problem. If you are a part of the 5% that is rejected, you need to pull a copy of your credit report and see exactly what is on it - it probably contains inaccurate or out-of-date information. If that is the case, simply correct your credit report by disputing the incorrect items and then mail a copy of your corrected credit report to the bank(s) you applied to for credit. They will then reconsider your application.
Membership Organizations
The following list consists of organizations that you can join (or otherwise utilize) in order to get an unsecured credit card. Generally speaking, they will cost you more for annual fees, etc. and they may even charge for their services. We have included them solely for those people who cannot fit the requirements of the issuing banks above. ALWAYS APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE BANKS FIRST!
